Hyderabad: Minister Ponnam Prabhakar inaugurated the BC Cell office and an affiliated seminar hall at Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University in Rajendranagar, marking the first time a dedicated BC department was established in the university’s 60-year history.
He congratulated the university for creating the department, which he said would serve as a platform for BC employees and students to come together. Prabhakar noted that the fight for representation of weaker sections had so far been taken up mainly by political parties. He called for participation from all communities, similar to the Telangana movement, to secure 42 percent reservation for BCs in education, employment, and local bodies after a caste census.
