HYDERABAD: Telangana Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has called for strict action against BJP MP Nishikant Dubey over his alleged inflammatory and hateful remarks about constitutional authorities.
In a post on social media platform X, Prabhakar criticised Dubey for making derogatory comments, particularly targeting former Election Commissioner Quraishi. He said such statements were fuelling religious divisions in the country.
Prabhakar urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP leadership to take immediate and stern action against Dubey. He asserted that if the BJP leadership did not agree with Dubey’s statements, it should expel him from the party and cancel his parliamentary membership.
He added that if BJP leaders remained silent, it would be seen as an endorsement of Dubey’s remarks.
The minister further alleged that Dubey was not the only BJP leader to make such comments, pointing out that several party figures, including Pragya Singh Thakur and Bandi Sanjay, had also made offensive remarks about constitutional institutions and figures in the past.
Prabhakar stressed that this pattern of behaviour showed a dangerous disregard for constitutional values and called for accountability.
