Hyderabad: Transport and Hyderabad Incharge Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Sunday visited the fire-hit Gulzar Houz residence where a blaze, triggered by an early morning short circuit, left multiple families devastated. The Gulzar Houz fire broke out at 6:16 am, rapidly consuming parts of the building and forcing all 17 residents into emergency evacuation.
Speaking to officials on-site, Ponnam Prabhakar sought a detailed briefing on the incident. He later interacted with the affected families, assuring them of government support and immediate relief. “No one will be left behind,” he said, directing health authorities to ensure proper treatment for the injured.
Firefighters arrived within minutes of being alerted and managed to control the blaze swiftly. Despite their efforts, significant harm was done—several casualties are feared though official figures are awaited.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy spoke with the victims’ families over the phone, expressing his condolences and issuing instructions to all departments to coordinate rehabilitation efforts. “Every step must be taken so the victims face no further hardship,” he reportedly told officials.
Four joint families had gathered under one roof for the summer holidays. Many of the victims were children. Authorities confirmed all departments responded quickly, with police, health workers, and fire personnel still stationed at the site.
While preliminary findings ruled out foul play, officials stressed the incident was purely accidental. “There was no negligence from any department,” Ponnam Prabhakar said. “The damage was minimised due to timely response.”
Rehabilitation operations are underway, with all government departments involved. The state government has extended its condolences to the bereaved families and pledged continued support in rebuilding lives.
