Hyderabad: As part of the Swachhata Hi Seva drive 2025, BC Welfare and Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar led a large-scale cleanliness effort near Lower Manair Dam in Karimnagar. The activity was held under the “Ek Din – Ek Ghanta – Ek Saath” initiative launched by the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation.
Minister Prabhakar personally took part in Shramadanam, cleaning dam surroundings and removing plastic waste along with students. He was joined by District Collector Pamela Satpathy, Municipal Commissioner Praful Desai, SUDA Chairman Komatireddy Narender Reddy, and other officials.
The Minister urged people to dedicate one hour regularly to cleanliness, separate wet and dry waste, and avoid plastic littering. He called on citizens to treat cleanliness as a habit rather than a one-time event.
“Cleanliness is not a one-day programme but a continuous process. Only with people’s cooperation will government initiatives succeed,” he said.
He also highlighted Telangana’s broader environmental efforts, including pollution control, plantation drives, promotion of electric vehicles, and preservation of heritage sites such as Lower Manair Dam and Elgandal Fort.
Officials, police, forest personnel, sanitation workers, and volunteers took a collective pledge to make cleanliness part of everyday life. They also encouraged every residential colony to form Swachhata Committees to support a clean and green Karimnagar.
