Hyderabad: Telangana Civil Supplies Minister Ponnam Prabhakar urged Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to clear nearly ₹1,000 crore in pending Cantonment user charges. He submitted a joint representation with GHMC Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, Rajya Sabha member Anil Kumar Yadav, and Secunderabad Cantonment MLA Ganesh.
Prabhakar said the state needed timely clearance of dues to maintain civic services in defence areas. He added that the money would also help improve infrastructure for residents. The minister thanked the Defence Ministry for agreeing to release some defence land for public use but requested faster processing.

The minister said Hyderabad and Secunderabad required expanded civic facilities due to rapid growth. He stressed that mobility and infrastructure projects depended heavily on land transfers from defence authorities.
Prabhakar also reminded the Centre that Secunderabad Cantonment had not held elections for several years. He asked for immediate steps to restore local representation in the board. He expressed confidence that the Defence Ministry would consider Telangana’s concerns positively.
