Hyderabad: A postal employee died by suicide in Vanasthalipuram after reportedly incurring heavy losses from online betting, according to police.
The deceased, Naresh, was originally from Bobbili in Andhra Pradesh’s Vizianagaram district and had been working as a postal employee while residing in Hyderabad with his wife Keerthi and daughter Bhavya. Police said Naresh had developed a prolonged addiction to online betting, which led to severe financial distress.
Suicide note cited betting addiction and ₹15 lakh debt
Investigators revealed that Naresh had taken loans amounting to nearly ₹15 lakh. In his suicide note, he mentioned being unable to stop betting and failing to repay debts, which drove him to take the extreme step.
Naresh had been unwell and confined to his home in recent days. He reportedly took his life when his family was away. Police registered a case and launched an investigation.
