Hyderabad: In a new twist to the phone tapping case, former SIB chief and prime accused Prabhakar Rao has filed a fresh petition in the Supreme Court alleging harassment by the Special Investigation Team (SIT).
Rao claimed that SIT officials have been summoning him repeatedly to the police station under the pretext of an inquiry. The petition is scheduled for hearing on August 4.
Meanwhile, SIT has also approached the apex court seeking cancellation of the interim relief that protects Rao from arrest.
After the case was registered, Prabhakar Rao had fled abroad but returned to Hyderabad under Supreme Court protection. He has since appeared for questioning as directed, though SIT maintains he has not been cooperating with the investigation.
With both petitions now pending before the Supreme Court, legal suspense looms over the court’s next move in the high-profile surveillance case.
