Hyderabad: The dispute over Telangana BC reservations in local body elections deepened on Saturday. Political parties accused each other of blocking the implementation of 42 percent reservations for Backward Classes.
Congress leaders blamed the BJP and BRS for creating obstacles. Opposition leaders countered that the Congress government lacked sincerity and failed to act on its promises.
BC Commission holds prayer meet on Telangana BC reservations
Amid the row, the Telangana BC Commission organised a prayer meet at Bapu Ghat in Langar Houz. The event, held from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, featured bhajans dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi.
BC Commission Chairman Niranjan led the programme. TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud, senior leader V. Hanumantha Rao, Jajula Srinivas Goud, and other commission members joined him. They prayed for peace and social justice and reiterated their demand for immediate implementation of the 42 percent BC quota.
