Hyderabad: Speculation is mounting around Preethi Reddy, daughter-in-law of BRS MLA and former minister Chamakura Mallareddy, amid visible signs of growing proximity to BJP circles.
Though still with BRS, Preethi Reddy’s presence alongside BJP leader and Union Minister Bandi Sanjay at the Bonalu celebrations in Hyderabad’s Old City on Sunday raised political eyebrows. Flex banners at the event featured both leaders, sparking chatter over her possible shift.
Sources suggest Reddy waited nearly five hours for Bandi Sanjay’s arrival, further fueling talk of her strategic alignment. The following day, she joined a lunch hosted at a BJP leader’s residence in Mekalamandi, where both leaders were seen dining at the same table and exchanging pleasantries.
Mallareddy has publicly hinted at three political leaders emerging from his family. With his son-in-law Marri Rajasekhar Reddy serving as MLA from Malkajgiri and himself holding the Medchal seat, Preethi Reddy has long been considered the likely third entrant. Her active role during the 2023 elections, public engagements, and press meets following IT raids on the family-run colleges have reinforced her growing profile.
A medical doctor by profession and currently director of the Mallareddy group of institutions, Reddy has led several public health initiatives, including free maternal care and large-scale outreach through Mallareddy hospitals.
Born in Hubli, Karnataka, to a scientist mother and a doctor father, she trained in Bharatanatyam and pursued medicine before marrying into the Mallareddy family. Her rising political visibility has sparked serious talk of a future shift—possibly formalising her role in the BJP.
