Hyderabad: Heavy overnight rain in Mancherial district cut off road access at Narsapur check post in Tandur mandal after floodwaters surged over a culvert. Traffic remained halted as water continued to flow across the structure.
In Doddigudem village, nine-month pregnant Yamuna developed labour pains during the blockade. Her family struggled to move her across a flooded stream to reach medical help.

Tandur Sub-Inspector Kiran Kumar dispatched police personnel and swimmers to the spot. Using ropes, they helped Yamuna cross the stream and shifted her into an ambulance bound for the government hospital.
Local Adivasi residents blamed Singareni Collieries Company Limited for the incident. They alleged that soil dumping across the stream had filled a six-metre-high bridge with silt, forcing floodwater to overflow and delaying medical access for the pregnant woman.
Leaders accused Singareni of negligence toward tribal villages. Gondwana Panchayat and Narsapur ward member Madavi Amruthrao demanded that Bellampalli area officials take full responsibility if any lives were lost. He accused the company of exploiting tribal lands while ignoring their hardships and development needs.
Amruthrao warned that unless a high-level bridge was built immediately, locals would block the newly planned Abbapur opencast mine. Yamuna later delivered a baby boy at Bellampalli government hospital. Doctors said both mother and child were in good health.
