Hyderabad: The strike by private colleges in Telangana continued for the third straight day on Wednesday. Managements demanded that the state government release pending fee reimbursement funds without further delay.
The Telangana Private Colleges Joint Action Committee called the strike earlier this week, saying the government had not cleared dues despite repeated requests. As the protest entered its third day, several pharmacy colleges also boycotted their semester exams in support.

College managements urged the government to pay at least 50% of the pending amount right away. They feared that the committee set up to review reimbursement reforms might slow the process.
Association leaders said the strike would go on until the government responded. They warned that delays in payments would hurt students, especially those from poor families.
Since Monday, more than 2,000 private engineering, degree, and postgraduate colleges across Telangana have remained closed. Teachers’ and education groups also supported the strike, saying students could lose valuable academic time if the government delayed action.
