HYDERABAD: Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) Dr Jitender stated that promptly addressing public grievances strengthens trust in the police system. He directed police officers to establish effective communication with citizens and resolve their issues on a priority basis.
Dr Jitender conducted a meeting with Station House Officers (SHOs) from across the state at the DGP office on Saturday. Speaking on the occasion, he noted that the public approaches police stations only when they face problems, making it imperative for the police to address these concerns swiftly and efficiently. He emphasised that regaining and strengthening public trust hinges on resolving their grievances effectively.
The DGP instructed police officers to take stringent action against criminals and to ensure that investigations are conducted thoroughly, leading to convictions. He stressed that it is the duty of the police to provide a safe environment for the public and to take citizens’ concerns seriously.
Additional DGP (Law and Order) Mahesh M. Bhagwat also attended the meeting. He highlighted that strict action would be taken against those involved in the production of counterfeit seeds.
Dr Jitender further mentioned that the current policing system is 165 years old and continuous efforts are being made to modernise and improve it. He underscored that enhancing performance and giving priority to public issues are essential for gaining public trust.
He also advised police officers to adopt a friendly approach with the public, listen carefully to their concerns, and ensure transparency and effectiveness in service delivery.
