Hyderabad: Sangareddy district police busted a ganja smuggling racket that operated in a manner strikingly similar to the film Pushpa. Officials said the accused had modified his car with concealed compartments to transport contraband across states.
Police identified the smuggler as Chiranjeevi, who was caught while transporting dry ganja from Odisha to Maharashtra. To avoid suspicion, he had the vehicle altered with secret cabins under the seats and inside the dashboard. Officers admitted the hidden design surprised them during inspection.
5.4 kilograms of dry ganja from the car
Authorities seized 5.4 kilograms of dry ganja from the car, along with the vehicle itself and a mobile phone. The operation was carried out jointly by the Task Force and Sangareddy Excise police. The accused was taken into custody and shifted to the Sangareddy Excise police station.
Officials warned that strict action would continue against those engaged in ganja trafficking and urged the public not to become involved in such activities. Police noted that while the method of concealment resembled scenes from Pushpa, vigilance ensured the smuggling attempt failed.
