Hyderabad: In a Raksha Bandhan gesture with a safety twist, Rachakonda women traffic police tied rakhis to helmetless two-wheeler riders, telling them, “Your life matters to us.” The initiative, held on Saturday, aimed to promote road safety, helmet use, and accident prevention across the commissionerate limits.

The awareness drive took place at traffic signals and busy junctions, where women officers stopped riders without helmets and counselled them on the risks of riding unprotected. Officers explained that just as the festival celebrates a sister’s bond, wearing a helmet safeguards life during every journey.
Rachakonda police officials stressed that helmets act as a protective shield and are essential for reducing fatalities in road accidents. The campaign received attention on social media after the commissionerate’s official X account (@RachakondaCop) shared photographs of the event with the caption, “Raksha with road safety.”
