Hyderabad: BJP MP from Medak, Raghunandan Rao, on Monday termed the reactor blast at Sagachi Chemical Factory in Pasamailaram industrial area as deeply unfortunate.
He alleged that poor inspections and regulatory lapses by the government had contributed to such accidents.
Speaking to a news channel, Raghunandan Rao said that authorities show urgency only immediately after accidents but neglect follow-up action.
He called for appointing more Inspectors of Factories and insisted on regular safety training for industrial workers.
He pointed out that residents, including children, pregnant women, and asthma patients, face severe health problems from chemical units operating in Patancheru and Pasamailaram.
Raghunandan Rao demanded that these industries be shifted away from residential areas and that a dedicated chemical industry zone be established.
He said he and other concerned citizens had repeatedly raised these demands with the government and officials, but no action had been taken so far.
