HYDERABAD: BJP MP from Medak, Raghunandan Rao, has issued a strong challenge to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, calling on him to prove his commitment to the legacy of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi by protecting the land allotted to Hyderabad Central University (HCU).
“If this truly is Indiramma Rajyam as you claim, then the 2,324 acres allocated to HCU by Indira Gandhi’s government in 1974 must be secured with a compound wall and handed over to the university,” Raghunandan Rao said in a statement on social media.
He criticised Revanth Reddy for making “loud declarations” about withdrawing cases against students and standing with them, while no concrete steps had been taken to secure the university’s land.
Raghunandan further stated that even if the government could not secure the entire 2,324 acres, it should at least act on the 2012 Collector’s report, which identified 2,185 acres as belonging to HCU. He demanded that a boundary wall be erected around that land without delay and full control handed over to the university.
The remarks intensify ongoing political pressure on the state government regarding the protection and rightful possession of HCU lands, an issue that continues to spark debate in Telangana’s political landscape.
