Hyderabad: BJP MP Raghunandan Rao accused the Congress and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) of jointly stalling the Banakacharla project through what he called coordinated political theatrics. Addressing the media, the Karimnagar parliamentarian said both parties were dragging their feet on Andhra Pradesh’s proposed Godavari-Banakacharla river link, using official presentations as delay tactics.
Rao alleged the BRS government under K. Chandrashekar Rao looted the state for a decade in the name of project redesign, while the Congress is now buying time under the guise of commission-related formalities. He said the Centre would not allow any injustice to Telangana and noted that the Union government had already sent back Andhra Pradesh’s Banakacharla project proposal in that context.
The BJP leader criticised KCR for accepting 299 TMC of water allocation to Telangana and called it a mistake. He also questioned why Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has not written to KCR on the issue of water distribution. Rao asserted that the central government remained firmly committed to Telangana’s development.
