Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Traffic Police on Monday urged IT companies and residents to brace for another round of heavy rains, with warnings already in place for the city.
The Hyderabad Meteorological Department said the city could see heavy to very heavy showers this evening and tomorrow, after days of relentless rain that’s left several colonies waterlogged and major roads under strain.
To avoid a repeat of last week’s gridlock, IT firms were asked to start sending employees home in phases from 3 p.m., easing the crush of traffic during the evening rush.
Police advised residents to avoid unnecessary travel in the evening. GHMC and Telangana Police were placed on alert in anticipation of worsening conditions.
Traffic diversions and Himayat Sagar release
In view of rising water levels, gates of Himayat Sagar were opened. Traffic diversions were implemented between Shamshabad and Gachibowli: from Shamshabad, commuters should use Exit 17 via Kismatpur–Bandlaguda–TGPA Junction; from Gachibowli, the route is via Lords College–Kismatpur–Budwel–Aramghar.
Cyberabad Traffic Police said weather and traffic updates would be shared regularly through social media channels.
