Hyderabad: Muslim religious leaders and community representatives on Friday demanded the immediate arrest and bail cancellation of suspended BJP MLA Raja Singh. They accused him of repeatedly making derogatory remarks about Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
Charminar MLA Mir Zulfiqar Ali led the delegation that met Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar. The group included clerics and members of the Central Milad Procession Committee. In their representation, they called for immediate legal action and referred to over 40 FIRs filed at police stations across Telangana.
The delegation conveyed that Muslims are deeply angered by the repeated insults. While other issues may be tolerated, they said any disrespect toward the Prophet is absolutely unacceptable. They further alleged that Raja Singh makes such statements deliberately ahead of elections for political mileage.

Raja Singh arrest demand supported by multiple legal provisions
Delegates said Raja Singh had already violated conditions from a prior bail. They demanded his immediate re-arrest and the cancellation of his bail. Delays in action, they warned, could trigger unrest and damage communal peace.
Citing applicable laws, they referred to IPC Sections 153A (promoting enmity), 295A (outraging religious feelings), 298 (intentional insult), and 505(2) (spreading hatred). They also invoked Section 67 of the IT Act, which deals with objectionable digital content.
Clerics said Raja Singh had ignored multiple court directives. His remarks, they noted, continued to circulate widely on social media and public forums, increasing the risk of communal tension.
They urged the Commissioner to act decisively and ensure that all FIRs were enforced. Additionally, they called for public disclosure on what steps the police had taken so far.
The delegation included Maulana Syed Sheikhun Ahmed Qadri Shatari (President), Maulana Syed Qadir Mohiuddin Qadri, Juned Pasha Zareen Kullah (General Secretary), Maulana Syed Shah Mohammad Saifullah Husaini Al-Baqari (Joint Secretary), Maulana Hafiz Mohammad Muzafar Husain Qadri Banda Nawazi (Convener), Maulana Syed Ahmad Al-Husaini Saeed Qadri (Joint Convener), and Maulana Dr. Khwaja Shah Mohammad Shujauddin Ifteqari Haqqani Pasha (Secretary, Media & Publications), among others.
