The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee and Majlis Ulama-e-Deccan have announced that the moon of Ramadan was not sighted today. Consequently, Saturday, March 1, 2025, will be the 30th of Shaban, and Sunday, March 2, 2025, will mark the first day of Ramadan.
HYDERABAD: The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, along with the Majlis Ulama-e-Deccan, has officially announced that the moon of Ramadan was not sighted today. As a result, Saturday, March 1, 2025, will be observed as the 30th of Shaban, while the first day of Ramadan will be on Sunday, March 2, 2025.
This announcement was made after thorough moon-sighting efforts and consultations with various Islamic scholars and regional committees. Since no credible reports of moon sighting were received from any part of the country, it was decided to complete 30 days of Shaban before beginning the holy month of Ramadan.
The committee urged the Muslim community to prepare for the blessed month of fasting, prayer, and reflection, which will commence from Sunday.
The announcement aligns with the traditional lunar calendar system followed in determining Islamic months.
Muslims worldwide observe Ramadan as a period of spiritual growth, marked by fasting from dawn to dusk and increased acts of worship.
