Hyderabad: Telangana BJP president Ramchander Rao welcomed Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s praise for party veteran Bandaru Dattatreya, while sarcastically urging the Congress to replace Revanth with BC leaders Ponnam Prabhakar or Mahesh Kumar Goud.
Speaking in Hyderabad on Friday, Rao mocked the chief minister’s demand to nominate Dattatreya for Vice-President, countering it with a call for appointing a Backward Class chief minister. He accused Revanth of insulting the BC community by declaring Prime Minister Narendra Modi “not a BC” and introducing the term “converted BC.”
Rao challenged the Congress on its stance, questioning what answer they would give if similar comments were made about Rahul Gandhi.
He ridiculed the CM’s public messaging, comparing it to the comic award won by Brahmanandam in the film Attarintiki Daredi. “Revanth deserves not just the Bhaskar Award but the Goebbels Award as well,” Rao said, adding that he would recommend the same to Sonia Gandhi.
