Hyderabad: A ration card distribution event at Banjara Bhavan in Banjara Hills turned disorderly as Congress and BRS leaders clashed during speeches, sparking tension on stage.
Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar was addressing beneficiaries from Khairatabad constituency when BRS MLC Sravan and several BRS corporators interrupted, triggering uproar.
Ponnam accused the previous BRS government of not issuing a single ration card. Sravan countered that six lakh ration cards were distributed under KCR’s tenure.
When BRS corporators attempted to raise local issues, both Ponnam and Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender reacted sharply. Nagender lashed out at the corporators, asking if they were creating a spectacle.
Sravan stood up from his seat and raised slogans against the Congress government. Finance Minister Sridhar Babu, also present, intervened and persuaded Sravan to sit down, restoring order.
