Hyderabad: Medak police have identified Ravinder Reddy as the prime accused in the murder of Congress Leader Anil, cracking a case that has rocked local political circles.
Medak SP Srinivas Rao, addressing the media, said Anil was shot dead on July 14. He confirmed that Ravinder Reddy, once Anil’s political mentor, has been booked as A1 in the case. Two others—Nagaraju and Nagabhushanam—have been named as A2 and A3. Five people have been arrested so far; police are pursuing two more suspects.
Anil and Ravinder Reddy, both from the same village, had fallen out following a series of land settlement disputes. Police said Anil had been closely associated with Ravinder Reddy and his wife Lakshmi until her death, after which tensions escalated.
Conflicts reportedly flared over a petrol pump and a 12-acre land parcel. Police also cited personal enmity and allegations that Anil was spreading rumours in the village as motives behind the killing. Nagaraju and Nagabhushanam, too, had longstanding disputes with the victim, officials said.
