Hyderabad: Telangana is finally setting aside outdated land maps from the Nizam era. Starting next week, a pilot re-survey will be conducted in five villages across the state, Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy announced on Saturday.
There are 413 villages across Telangana with either no previous surveys or missing records, some unchanged for generations. Ponguleti criticised the previous BRS government for failing to act over the past decade. He said the Congress-led Indiramma administration under Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has now resolved to correct this legacy issue.
The pilot project will roll out in five selected villages: Salar Nagar in Gandeed mandal (Mahabubnagar), Kommanapalli (Kothadi) in Beerpur mandal (Jagtial), Mulugumad in Errupalem mandal (Khammam), Nuguru in Venkatapuram mandal (Mulugu), and Shahid Nagar in Vatpally mandal (Sangareddy).
The re-survey will use modern methods: a combination of aerial/drone mapping and pure ground-truthing to produce geo-referenced cadastre maps and ownership documents. Ponguleti said this would ensure transparency, clear land disputes, and bring clarity to landholding, especially benefiting rural and farming communities.
Experienced agencies such as RV Associates, Marvel Geo Spatial, IIC Technologies, Neo Geo, and Drogo Drones have been roped in to handle the pilot survey work. Depending on feedback from these five villages, the re-survey will be expanded to all 413.
Ponguleti stressed the government’s commitment to resolving land issues permanently using advanced technology and modern equipment.
