Hyderabad: The Indian Meteorological Department has issued red alerts for multiple Telangana districts as heavy to extremely heavy rain continues across the state. The Hyderabad weather bureau warned of intense rainfall over the next three days due to surface-level circulations.
Red alerts are in effect for Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, and Peddapalli districts, where very heavy rainfall is likely. Adilabad, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, and Bhadradri Kothagudem have been placed under orange alerts.
In Hyderabad, heavy showers struck several neighbourhoods late Tuesday. Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, and Khairatabad recorded intense downpours, while Dilsukhnagar, Chaitanyapuri, Kishanpura, and Narsingi saw moderate rainfall. LB Nagar experienced particularly heavy showers, with high rainfall also reported in Serilingampally, Gachibowli, and Madhapur. Rajendranagar, Attapur, and Bandlaguda recorded moderate rainfall, alongside showers in Nampally, Mehdipatnam, and Masab Tank.
GHMC’s South, East, and West zones have been flagged for continuing heavy rain alerts. Officials advised residents in low-lying areas to remain vigilant.
In Cyberabad, police announced traffic precautions in light of the weather forecast. The police recommended IT companies implement work-from-home arrangements for Tuesday and appealed for cooperation via a post on X.
IMD noted a high probability of further intense rainfall in Hyderabad within the next hour.
