Hyderabad: Residents of Banjara Hills raised serious concerns on Tuesday after red-colored water was seen flowing through a major stormwater drain in the heart of the city.
The alarming discharge, spotted near Road No. 10 in Noor Nagar, reportedly contains toxic industrial or chemical waste. It is flowing directly into the Taj Banjara lake, residents said. The visibly contaminated water has triggered fresh fears over rising pollution levels in one of Hyderabad’s upscale areas.
Locals described the water as reddish and foul-smelling. They warned that the unchecked flow posed both environmental and health hazards. “How can such hazardous water flow openly in a city like Hyderabad?” one resident asked.
They questioned the inaction of the Pollution Control Board and the Water Works Department. Many demanded an immediate clean-up and strict action against the source of contamination.
