Hyderabad: A two-week refresher course in commerce and management began on Monday at the UGC–Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (UGC-MMTTC), Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), drawing over 40 faculty members from universities and colleges across India.
Prof. V. Venkata Ramana, Director of the National Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management (NITHM), Hyderabad, delivered the inaugural lecture. He discussed the evolving trends in commerce, management, and entrepreneurship education, noting that digital transformation, innovation, and sustainability are reshaping the field.
Refresher course in commerce focuses on NEP-aligned teaching
“Teachers must stay ahead of the curve to prepare students for global challenges. We need creative problem solvers, ethical leaders, and socially responsible professionals,” said Prof. Ramana.
Prof. Saneem Fatima welcomed the participants and stressed the need for continuous academic renewal. She highlighted that teacher training is essential for adapting to rapid changes in business and management education.
She also emphasized the alignment of such programs with the goals of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. These include promoting interdisciplinary learning, skill-based teaching, and the integration of technology into classrooms.
Prof. Razaullah Khan, Dean of the School of Commerce and Business Management, Prof. Mohammed Abdul Azeem, Head of the Department of Commerce and Management, and Dr. Meraj Ahmed Mubarki, Associate Professor at UGC-MMTTC, also attended the inaugural.
Dr. Saidalavi K., Assistant Professor, outlined the course objectives and expected outcomes. The program will run until October 19, 2025.
