Hyderabad: Congress MP Renuka Chowdhury on Tuesday slammed the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) for abstaining from the vice-presidential election, calling the decision “shameful.”
She questioned why the BRS, which had once championed the Telangana movement, refused to back a Telugu candidate contesting for one of the country’s highest offices. “It is the responsibility of BRS to stand behind a Telugu leader. Their refusal only proves what we have been saying—that BJP and BRS are one and the same,” she alleged. Chowdhury accused the two parties of staging political drama in collusion.
Congress MPs back Sudershan Reddy
Chowdhury confirmed that all Congress MPs from Telangana would vote for INDIA bloc nominee B. Sudershan Reddy. “Win or lose, our vote is for Sudershan Reddy,” she asserted.
Congress MP Mallu Ravi expressed optimism, saying, “A miracle may happen at the end. Cross-voting can help Sudershan Reddy win. If the INDIA bloc candidate wins, democracy will survive. The mood of the nation is for Sudershan Reddy to win.”
