Hyderabad: A desperate family, a life-threatening illness, and a Chief Minister who stepped in when it mattered. That’s how 35-year-old Sircilla Saicharan from Siddipet found a lifeline—₹12 lakh, sanctioned directly by CM A. Revanth Reddy—for his treatment against acute myeloid leukaemia.
Saicharan, the sole breadwinner for his wife Lakshmiprasanna and two young daughters—six-year-old Lakshmi Susajna and two-month-old Smaya—was diagnosed with blood cancer. With no other option, the family sold off their home in Ensanpally, Siddipet mandal, to cover initial medical expenses. Even that fell short.
With treatment at Hyderabad’s Basavatarakam Cancer Hospital far from complete, they approached the Chief Minister directly to plead for help. Revanth Reddy didn’t hesitate—he sanctioned ₹5 lakh straight away, enabling Saicharan to undergo a stem cell transplant.
But the costs kept piling up. Post-surgery care and additional procedures pushed the bills higher. Seeing this, the CM instructed officials to release another ₹7 lakh from the CM Relief Fund (CMRF), bringing the total support to ₹12 lakh.
With the transplant now done, Saicharan visited the Secretariat on Wednesday evening along with his family to personally thank the Chief Minister. Revanth, in return, urged him to stay strong and assured the family they weren’t alone.
