Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy met Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and briefed her on the key findings of the Telangana caste survey, securing her endorsement for the state’s proposal to provide 42% reservations for OBCs.
In a tweet following the meeting, Revanth Reddy said he presented the details and rationale behind the quota policy aimed at ensuring fair representation for OBCs in education, employment, and political platforms.
Priyanka Gandhi appreciated Telangana’s approach and assured her full support in what she termed a vital step toward total justice for backward communities.
The state government has already passed legislation enabling the 42% OBC quota, which now awaits assent from the President of India.
The development comes amid Congress’s broader campaign for a nationwide caste census and the removal of the 50% reservation cap, with Telangana positioned as a model for data-driven social policy.
