Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said the fate of the state’s 42% BC reservation bill now rests with the Centre, asserting that the Congress government has fulfilled its legislative responsibilities and is awaiting central approval.
Speaking in Delhi alongside senior Congress leaders, including Telangana affairs in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan and TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, Revanth defended his government’s commitment. “No one can question our sincerity on BC reservations. The Congress has proven its stand,” he said during a media interaction.
Congress pushes Centre as suspense continues over BC quota approval
Revanth said the protest at Jantar Mantar was aimed at amplifying Telangana’s voice in the national capital, as the issue is now with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He clarified that the revised draft bill, initially brought as an ordinance by former CM KCR, had already been forwarded to the Governor.
“The President has no political role here only the Centre can move the file,” Revanth remarked, taking a swipe at BJP leaders. “If not, let the BJP explain whether the President is in Modi’s hands.”
He added that once the BC reservation bill is approved, the state would complete the local election process within 10 days as per the High Court’s directions. Until then, Telangana’s ruling party leaders are camped in Delhi, monitoring developments closely.
