Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy on Friday agreed to establish structured cooperation between Telangana and New Jersey in sectors including technology, life sciences, urban transit, and film tourism.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Public Affairs Forum of India (PAFI) Annual Conclave in New Delhi. Both leaders discussed enhancing bilateral investments and facilitating exchange programmes to unlock economic opportunities for both regions.
Governor Murphy expressed full support for the TelanganaRising vision and said New Jersey shared several economic and demographic similarities with Telangana. “Together, we can make a huge difference for each other’s economies,” he said.
As part of the agreement, both leaders committed to bringing official trade delegations to each other’s states. The goal is to increase mutual investments and create jobs by promoting innovation and economic partnerships.
Revanth Reddy announced that Hyderabad’s public transport systems, including Metro Rail and MMTS, would receive technical support from New Jersey’s transport authorities. “I thank Governor Murphy for his support to Hyderabad’s urban transit network,” he said.
In addition to transit collaboration, the Telangana Chief Minister invited leading New Jersey universities—such as NJIT, Princeton, and Rutgers—to establish offshore campuses in Hyderabad. He assured them of full state support and facilitation.
The two leaders also agreed to explore joint initiatives in film tourism, promoting exchange and cooperation between the entertainment sectors of both regions.
