Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy accused BRS chief K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) and the BJP of entering a secret deal. He challenged Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy to prove otherwise by ensuring that the CBI filed an FIR in the Kaleshwaram project case before the Jubilee Hills bypoll and arrested KCR and T. Harish Rao.
Revanth Reddy challenges BJP over Kaleshwaram case
Revanth Reddy made the allegations on Tuesday night during a roadshow at Rahmathnagar in Jubilee Hills. He campaigned along with Congress candidate Naveen Yadav. The Chief Minister accused the BJP of shielding KCR for political convenience. He said both parties had struck a “Fevicol bond” that prevented any action in corruption cases.
He claimed that officials collected ₹50 crore from a company through electoral bonds in the Formula-E racing deal. Moreover, he stated that the Anti-Corruption Bureau filed a case with full evidence and sought permission to arrest K. T. Rama Rao. “The file has been lying with the Governor for two months. Why is there still no permission to arrest KTR?” he asked.
Revanth reminded that both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah once called the Kaleshwaram project an “ATM” for BRS. He pointed out that the barrage collapsed within three years, washing ₹1 lakh crore into the Godavari. Furthermore, he said a judicial commission found KCR and Harish Rao guilty, prompting the Assembly to hand over the case to the CBI. “Kishan Reddy once promised to jail both father and son within 48 hours if the case reached the CBI. Now that it has, why haven’t they been arrested?” he demanded.
‘BRS insulted the tradition of unanimous bypolls’
Revanth Reddy accused the BRS of breaking the state’s political tradition. “When Paleru MLA Ramreddy Venkat Reddy and Narayankhed MLA Krishna Reddy died, KCR fielded candidates against their families. Where was his morality then?” he asked.
He said KTR even expelled his own sister from the family home over property disputes. “He talks about women’s welfare but failed to protect his sister’s dignity. Telangana’s daughters never asked for farmhouses or luxury. They only sought welfare,” Revanth added. He questioned why KCR had not provided free bus travel for women or ration cards for poor families during his ten-year rule.
‘KTR responsible for city’s neglect’
Revanth ridiculed KTR for inspecting garbage in Hyderabad colonies. “He served as the Municipal Minister for ten years. Let him spend a day near a garbage bin to know what citizens endure,” he said.
He further alleged that while Congress built Hitec City, the Outer Ring Road, the Metro, and the international airport, KCR and his family built only private estates. “KCR owns 1,000 acres in Gajwel, KTR has 100 acres in Janwada, Harish Rao 50 acres in Moinabad, and Kavitha estates near Shankarpally. Let KTR deny this if he dares,” Revanth said.
