Hyderabad: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Monday pledged to create one lakh new government jobs over the next two years, declaring it a personal commitment while addressing a public meeting in Tirumalagiri, Tungathurthi constituency.
Reddy said over 50,000 posts had already been filled in the past year under the Congress government, contrasting it with what he called a decade of deception by the previous BRS regime. “BRS used job notifications to mislead youth and then filed cases to block appointments,” he alleged.
Warning voters ahead of the upcoming local body polls, Reddy urged people not to support BRS in a single seat. He accused the party of playing with the lives of job-seeking youth and called for a clean sweep by Congress.
He described ration cards as not just a tool for food security but as a symbol of dignity and identification for the poor. He slammed the previous government for failing to distribute new cards or consider the supply of fine rice.
Reddy said his government was now supplying fine rice to 3.1 crore people across Telangana, leading to long queues at ration shops—a sign of effective delivery.
On agriculture, he claimed Telangana had become the top paddy-producing state in India, aided by fair MSPs and a bonus on fine paddy. He credited Congress policies for the surge in output.
The Chief Minister accused BRS of blocking irrigation schemes and failing to deliver Godavari water to Tungathurthi despite decade-old promises. He cited KCR’s unfulfilled commitment to bring water from the Devadula project within three days of winning.
Reddy also targeted BRS MLA Jagadish Reddy of Suryapet, saying all major irrigation projects in the region were built during Congress rule. He accused the MLA of spreading misinformation about the party’s contributions.
Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister laid foundation stones for ₹40 crore worth of development works in Tirumalagiri, including roads, public buildings, and other civic infrastructure.
The event was attended by Civil Supplies Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, Nalgonda in-charge minister A. Lakshman Kumar, Bhongir MP Kiran Kumar Reddy, MLA Samuel, and other local leaders.
