Hyderabad: Marking World Environment Day with a call to action, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Thursday appealed to citizens across Telangana to back words with deeds in the battle against environmental degradation.

In a message released by the Telangana CMO, the Chief Minister underscored that protecting nature is ultimately a matter of securing our own future. With this year’s global spotlight on plastic pollution, he pledged the state’s unwavering commitment to curbing plastic dependency. “If we protect nature today, it will protect us tomorrow,” he said, urging people to embrace eco-friendly habits that go beyond token gestures.

Revanth Reddy highlighted that environmental preservation is not just a matter of policy but a shared duty, one that calls for every citizen to participate. He stressed that the goal is to conserve today’s resources so they can sustain the generations to come.

Echoing the Chief Minister’s sentiments, Forest and Environment Minister Konda Surekha took to ‘X’ to call on people to plant more trees and shun plastic in their daily lives. “Let’s lay the foundation not only for our own health but for the well-being of those who come after us,” she urged, encouraging citizens to take a meaningful pledge on the occasion.

With the monsoon set to arrive soon, Telangana is preparing to expand its flagship Vana Mahotsavam tree-planting drive. Learning from last year’s effort, Minister Konda Surekha has directed officials to scale up the initiative this time with a sharper focus on creating visible and easily trackable green cover across the state.
