HYDERABAD, February 10: BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, comparing his governance to a faulty “Chinese phone” while likening former CM KCR’s administration to an “iPhone.” Addressing a gathering in Jagtial, she accused the Congress government of misleading the public, particularly Backward Classes (BCs), with false promises.
Kavitha questioned why the Revanth Reddy-led government had yet to release detailed BC population figures despite claiming to support the community. She criticised Minister Ponnam Prabhakar for convening rushed meetings with BC associations instead of arranging direct discussions with the Chief Minister. She demanded that Revanth Reddy personally engage with BC leaders and ensure 42% reservations in local bodies, warning that the agitation would not cease until the demand was met.
She alleged that the Congress government was attempting to downplay BC numbers, contradicting KCR’s 2014 estimate of 52% BC population in Telangana. Kavitha accused the government of manipulating statistics and misleading even Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in Parliament.
The BRS leader also targeted the Congress on irrigation projects, alleging that political vendetta was preventing the utilisation of the Medigadda project under Kaleshwaram. She urged the government to release water for farmers immediately. Additionally, she criticised Congress for failing to deliver on election promises such as free scooters for women, Rs 2,500 financial aid, and ration card issuance.
Addressing local political developments, Kavitha accused Jagtial MLA Sanjay Kumar of betraying BRS by joining Congress. She, however, expressed confidence that BRS workers remained united. Kavitha warned that if a by-election were to take place, Congress would struggle to retain its footing in Jagtial.
