Telangana CM Revanth Reddy met PM Modi, urging immediate approval for Hyderabad Metro Phase-II, Regional Ring Road, and other key infrastructure projects critical to the state’s development.
DELHI: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to grant immediate approval for Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-II and several other critical infrastructure projects aimed at boosting the state’s economic growth.
Accompanied by IT & Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu, CM Revanth Reddy met PM Modi in Delhi on Wednesday, emphasizing the urgent need to expand metro connectivity across Hyderabad—a project that had been neglected by the previous administration for a decade.
During the meeting, CM Revanth Reddy detailed the ambitious Rs 24,269 crore Phase-II Metro expansion, which spans 76.4 km across five corridors. He highlighted its role in reducing traffic congestion and improving urban mobility and urged PM Modi to fast-track approvals.
CM Revanth Reddy also pushed for the early approval of the southern segment of the Regional Ring Road (RRR), a crucial project for intra-state connectivity. He noted that 90% of land acquisition for the northern segment was already completed and offered Telangana’s willingness to bear 50% of land acquisition costs to accelerate the project.
Taking the connectivity vision further, the CM proposed the development of the Regional Ring Rail project to link Telangana with neighboring states through a high-speed rail network. He underscored its potential to boost trade, industry, and passenger mobility in South India.
Highlighting Telangana’s landlocked geography, CM Revanth Reddy proposed establishing dry ports along the RRR corridor to enhance export-import operations.
Additionally, he suggested developing a dedicated Greenfield Road and a parallel railway network to connect these dry ports with seaports in Andhra Pradesh, positioning Telangana as a key logistics hub.
Musi River Rejuvenation: A Rs 20,000 Crore Environmental Project
CM Revanth Reddy sought Rs 20,000 crore in central funding for the rejuvenation of Hyderabad’s Musi River, including:
✅ Development of Bapu Ghat at the confluence of the Esa and Musa rivers
✅ 27 Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) to purify the river
✅ Construction of retaining walls and embankments to prevent encroachments
✅ Musi-Godavari River Integration to ensure sustained water flow
He also urged PM Modi to facilitate the transfer of 222.7 acres for the Gandhi Sarovar Project, strengthening Hyderabad’s water security and environmental sustainability.
With increasing cybercrimes and urban security challenges, CM Revanth Reddy called for 29 additional IPS cadre posts. Telangana currently has 61 sanctioned posts, with 15 more allocated in 2015. Given the state’s rapid urban expansion, he emphasized the need for an enhanced law enforcement workforce.
CM Revanth Reddy also sought PM Modi’s approval to establish the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) in Telangana, citing the state’s strong infrastructure, skilled workforce, and investor-friendly policies. He highlighted the potential for Telangana to emerge as a leading player in India’s electronics and semiconductor ecosystem.
