Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy visited the iconic Khairatabad Maha Ganapati on Friday and offered special prayers. Festival organisers, district in-charge minister Ponnam Prabhakar, and local MLA Danam Nagender welcomed him at the venue.
Revanth Reddy performed aarti and garlanded the 69-foot idol with an elaborate floral offering. Temple priests gave him teertha prasadam and extended blessings during the brief ceremony.
Revanth Reddy Khairatabad Ganesh visit highlights city’s festive spirit
Addressing devotees, the Chief Minister applauded the Khairatabad Utsav Committee for sustaining a 71-year legacy. “Installing a 69-foot idol isn’t a simple task. I wholeheartedly commend those who shoulder this responsibility year after year,” he said.
He added that while several large idols are installed across Hyderabad, the Khairatabad Ganesh enjoys unmatched devotion and popularity. Moreover, he noted that the city has seen the installation of approximately 1.4 lakh Ganesh idols this year.
For the first time, the government provided free electricity to Ganesh pandals—a step Revanth Reddy described as historic. He stressed that the administration respects religious sentiments and supports all communities with equal commitment.
“Hyderabad stands as a symbol of communal harmony, where every religion finds space and every festival receives respect,” he stated.

He urged devotees to support the police and participate in the immersion peacefully. “Let’s ensure a safe and orderly Ganesh immersion without any incidents,” he appealed.
