Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday directed officials to form a dedicated team and complete the Medaram temple development project within 100 days. He emphasized that the plan must fully integrate the cultural practices and beliefs of local Indigenous communities.
During a review meeting in Mulugu district with temple authorities, priests, and Indigenous representatives, Revanth assured that the government would allocate sufficient funds to upgrade the Sammakka-Saralamma temple complex. He insisted that the new structures must preserve the sanctity of the site and withstand natural disasters.
Revanth also asked the irrigation department to construct check dams and set up a reliable water storage system along the Jampanna Vagu—a stream held sacred by the community. These efforts aim to improve the temple’s infrastructure without disturbing its natural surroundings.
“The temple lies within a pristine forest. Every structure must symbolize strength and cultural significance,” he said. The Chief Minister added that all plans would be developed in close consultation with community elders and temple priests.
Recalling his political journey, Revanth said he launched his padayatra from Medaram on February 6, 2023. He described the shrine as a symbol of resistance and justice. “This is more than a development project. It’s a sacred duty. Everyone involved must work with devotion and sincerity,” he added.
Community leaders raised several concerns about preserving traditional customs. Revanth reassured them that the government would prioritize cultural integrity at every step.
Officials presented architectural plans and layout designs for the temple’s expansion. The local community welcomed the move and pledged their full support for the state’s initiative.
