Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday instructed officials to draw up a time-bound action plan for the establishment of cow shelters across the state.
Chairing a high-level review meeting with top bureaucrats, Revanth Reddy underscored the need to protect and manage cattle effectively. He stressed that these shelters should be designed to provide both care and freedom of movement for the animals.
In the initial phase, he proposed setting up shelters within the campuses of Veterinary University, Agriculture University, colleges, and temples. Officials have been tasked with identifying suitable land for this purpose.
Emphasising ample space and quality care, the Chief Minister recommended allocating around 50 acres per shelter, complete with grazing areas and open spaces to avoid overcrowding.
He also asked officials to devise a detailed plan outlining budget estimates, construction, management, and maintenance of these facilities.
Revanth Reddy urged the active participation of charitable organisations to ensure the effective management and protection of the cows.
During the review, he examined draft designs for shelters planned at MK Palli in Moinabad mandal of Rangareddy district, suggesting several modifications. He directed the officials to finalise the designs within a week.
Key officials including Principal Secretaries V. Seshadri and Srinivasa Raju, Secretary Manicka Raj, Special Secretary Ajith Reddy, Special Chief Secretary Savyasachi Ghosh, HMDA Commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmed, Animal Husbandry Director B. Gopi, and Rangareddy District Collector Narayana Reddy attended the meeting.
