HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy met with leaders of the Peace Talks Committee at his residence in Jubilee Hills. During the meeting, committee representatives urged that the Central Government be persuaded to initiate peace talks with Maoist groups.
The committee leaders emphasised the need for the Centre to engage with proscribed organisations through dialogue and called on the state government to play an active role in securing a ceasefire agreement. A delegation comprising Justice Chandra Kumar, Professor Hargopal, Professor Anwar Khan, Durga Prasad, Jumpana, and Ravi Chandra presented a memorandum to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
During the discussions, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy stated that his government views the Naxal issue as a social problem rather than merely a law and order matter. He explained that the administration’s approach is focused on understanding the Naxalite movement within its social context.
The Chief Minister further noted that senior leader Jana Reddy has prior experience in dialogue with Naxalites. He mentioned that consultations would be held with Jana Reddy to seek guidance, and future steps would be taken under his leadership.
Following consultations with state ministers, the government will make a final decision regarding the Peace Talks. Revanth Reddy affirmed that the government is seriously considering this sensitive issue and appropriate action will be taken soon.
