Hyderabad: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has taken serious note of the Congress party’s slow campaign efforts in the Jubilee Hills bypoll. He has assigned three senior ministers to boost activity on the ground and fix coordination gaps.
Tummala Nageswara Rao, Ponnam Prabhakar, and D. Vivek were named as in-charges for the constituency. However, Revanth reportedly expressed dissatisfaction during a review call, citing intelligence inputs that the party’s graph was stagnating in the area.
He instructed the ministers to focus entirely on Jubilee Hills and meet local leaders and workers frequently. “This seat is critical. Engage the cadre, solve issues, and energize the base,” Revanth is said to have told them.
Revanth tells ministers to resolve civic issues, activate task teams
Following the directive, the three ministers visited Jubilee Hills on Saturday. They held separate meetings with workers and advised teams to contact beneficiaries of welfare schemes in every division.
They also directed the formation of two to three task groups per division. These teams must follow up with civic staff to address issues like water supply, drainage, road repairs, and street lighting.
The by-election, necessitated by the June 9 death of MLA Maganti Gopinath, is likely to coincide with the Bihar polls in late October. Despite the urgency, only two of the ministers had been visiting occasionally, triggering complaints about poor coordination.
Revanth has now insisted that the party treats Jubilee Hills as a top-priority battle. He wants visible action and faster response to local problems to improve ground sentiment ahead of polling.
