Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Sunday encouraged young and aspiring political leaders to read the autobiography of Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, describing it as an invaluable guide for anyone entering public life.
Speaking at the launch of the book Prajala Kathe – Naa Atma Katha, held at Shilpakala Vedika in Hyderabad, Revanth Reddy praised Dattatreya’s journey from humble beginnings in Gouliguda galli to holding the constitutional post of Governor. “His life is a testament to the values of humility, integrity, and dedication to the people,” he said.
The Chief Minister, who was the chief guest at the event, lauded Dattatreya’s ability to remain connected to the common man throughout his political career, despite holding several prominent positions. “He is someone who stayed true to his roots,” Revanth Reddy remarked.
Sharing his personal admiration for Dattatreya, Revanth Reddy recalled observing his political journey closely over the years. He described Dattatreya as “Aajata Shatruvu” a man without enemies and compared his inclusive style of leadership to that of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
The Chief Minister also noted that leaders across party lines hold Dattatreya in high regard, regardless of who is in power. He highlighted the annual Alai Bhalai programme, which Dattatreya hosts to bring leaders together, as a sign of his statesmanship and commitment to fostering dialogue.
Revanth Reddy said both Dattatreya and the late P. Janardhan Reddy (PJR) embodied the spirit of service to Hyderabad’s underprivileged, and continue to inspire his government in making people-centric decisions. “Whenever we think of the struggles of the city’s poorer sections, these two leaders come to mind,” he said.
Concluding his address, Revanth Reddy urged emerging leaders to draw inspiration from Dattatreya’s life and leadership, emphasising that his autobiography offers lessons in humility, dedication, and commitment to public service.
