Hyderabad: In a daring daylight robbery, four unidentified men looted ₹40 lakh from a trader after ramming his car in Shankarpally on Friday afternoon. The assailants attacked him with a fake pistol and smashed his car windows before fleeing with the cash.
According to police, Rakesh, a trader from Ghatkesar, was driving from Vikarabad’s Janta Steel Shop towards Hyderabad with ₹40 lakh when the gang began chasing him. Near Shankarpally, they rammed his car from behind, forcing him to stop. Within moments, the robbers broke the glass with stones, threatened him with a toy gun, and grabbed the bag of money.
Robbers loot ₹40 lakh but abandon overturned car
The gang attempted to escape in their own vehicle, but in haste, their speeding car overturned after a short distance. They left the car behind and fled with the stolen cash. Locals who witnessed the incident alerted the police.
Police recovered a bag with some money, a knife, and chilli powder from the abandoned vehicle. Investigators believe the gang may have dropped part of the cash while fleeing. A case has been registered, and a search operation is underway to trace the culprits.
