Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has rolled out the ₹5 breakfast scheme at 150 Indiramma canteens across the city, offering a six-day rotating menu at heavily subsidised rates.

Each plate, priced at ₹19, will be provided to the public for ₹5, with the GHMC covering the remaining ₹14. The scheme is being implemented under the coordination of the Hare Krishna Foundation.

The canteens, rebranded from the earlier Annapurna facilities, will serve millet-based and traditional items as part of the daily menu. The schedule includes:

Day 1: Three millet idlis with sambar, chutney, and powder
Day 2: Millet upma with sambar and mixed chutney
Day 3: Pongal with sambar and chutney
Day 4: Three idlis with sambar and chutney
Day 5: Pongal with sambar and chutney
Day 6: Three puris with aloo kurma

GHMC has also allocated ₹11.43 crore to establish 139 new container canteens to expand coverage under the initiative.
