Two killed, 20 injured as RTC bus collides with tipper lorry near Chevella

Hyderabad: Two people died and 20 others suffered serious injuries in a road accident near Mirzaguda village of Chevella mandal in Ranga Reddy district on Monday morning. The crash occurred when an RTC bus from Tandur depot rammed into a tipper lorry on the Hyderabad–Bijapur National Highway.

Both the RTC bus driver and the tipper driver died instantly. The impact caused the tipper, loaded with gravel, to topple. The gravel poured into the bus, trapping several passengers inside. Rescue teams worked quickly and pulled the injured passengers from the wreckage.

Residents alerted the police, who reached the spot immediately and began rescue operations. Officers and medical staff shifted the injured to the Chevella government hospital for treatment.

Heavy traffic jam on the Hyderabad–Bijapur route

Around 70 passengers were travelling in the bus during the accident. The collision blocked traffic on the Chevella–Vikarabad route for several hours. Police used cranes to clear the vehicles and restore the traffic flow. Officials said they were investigating the cause of the crash.
