31 injured as two RTC buses collide near Sarapaka in Burgampahad

Hyderabad: At least 31 passengers suffered injuries when two RTC buses collided near Sarapaka petrol station in Burgampahad mandal of Bhadradri Kothagudem district on Friday morning. The mishap took place when one bus from Khammam was heading towards Bhadrachalam, while another from Bhadrachalam depot was coming from the opposite direction.

Collision at Sarapaka turn injures several passengers

According to locals and police, a Bhadrachalam depot bus was en route to Khammam, and a Kothagudem depot bus was returning from Khammam. They collided at a sharp curve near the Sarapaka petrol bunk. As a result, several passengers fell off their seats and sustained injuries. Fortunately, there were no casualties.

Locals act swiftly to rescue injured passengers

Soon after the collision, local residents rushed to the spot and rescued the injured. They immediately arranged 108 ambulances and shifted all victims to Bhadrachalam Area Hospital for treatment.
At the hospital, Superintendent Dr. Mudikonda Ramakrishna led a team of doctors who responded swiftly and treated all the injured. He confirmed that everyone was out of danger. “Three passengers have serious injuries, and they remain under observation,” he said.

Police clear road and launch detailed probe

Meanwhile, Burgampahad police reached the location soon after receiving the alert. They moved the damaged buses to the roadside and restored smooth traffic flow on the national highway. For a short time, vehicles were halted due to the congestion.

Later, Sub-Inspector Prasad said a case had been registered. He added that police had started a detailed investigation to identify the cause of the collision and fix responsibility.
