Hyderabad: Hyderabad police on Friday announced new traffic restrictions for RTC buses as the final phase of Ganesh idol immersion begins on Saturday. The measures aim to cut congestion near Tank Bund and Saroor Nagar lakes, where major processions will take place.
Thousands of idols have already been immersed. The rest will move in processions across the city from Saturday morning.
RTC buses Ganesh immersion Hyderabad: revised halting points
Police confirmed that RTC buses from districts and neighbouring states will not enter Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station (MGBS). Instead, they will stop at the following points:
- From Bengaluru and Mahabubnagar via Shamshabad → Aramgarh
- From Warangal → Uppal
- From Vijayawada and Nalgonda → LB Nagar
- From Vikarabad and Moinabad → Mehdipatnam
- From Karimnagar, Siddipet, and Nizamabad → JBS
In addition, inter-district and interstate buses that reach MGBS by Friday night will leave through Chaderghat on Saturday morning.
Police urge cooperation for smooth immersion
Police officials said these diversions would ease traffic flow and give space for the 40-hour Maha Nimajjan. They expect lakhs of devotees to join the processions.
Authorities also appealed to commuters to plan their journeys in advance. They urged the public to follow traffic instructions and cooperate with police during the immersion.
