HYDERABAD: RTC Managing Director and IPS officer, V.C. Sajjanar, has issued a heartfelt appeal to the youth of Telangana, urging them to avoid online betting to safeguard their futures. This plea comes in the wake of a tragic incident involving a student from the state.

Tragic Incident Highlights Dangers of Online Betting

Sajjanar shared a news clipping on his Twitter account detailing the recent suicide of Nikhil Rao, a 22-year-old B.Sc. Agriculture student from Mannempalli village in Karimnagar district. Nikhil had reportedly become addicted to online betting apps, accruing significant debts. Despite his father’s efforts to clear these debts, Nikhil continued to gamble, ultimately leading to his suicide by jumping into an agricultural well near his village. He was the only child of his parents, who are now devastated by the loss.

Sajjanar’s Warning to the Youth

In his tweet, Sajjanar wrote, “The online betting monster has claimed the life of a degree student. Parents who hoped their child would complete B.Sc. Agriculture and become an agricultural officer have had their dreams shattered. Dear youth, do not fall into the trap of easy money through betting. Do not destroy your golden future with your own hands.”
