Hyderabad: As the Jubilee Hills Legislative Assembly by-election code of conduct remains in force, Hyderabad District Election Officer and GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan issued an important advisory. He urged citizens not to travel with more than ₹50,000 in cash unless they have valid documents. If caught without proof, officials will seize the amount, he warned.
Strict inspections across Hyderabad during the Jubilee Hills Legislative Assembly by-election
Karnan said flying squads and static surveillance teams are conducting checks across Hyderabad to enforce the election code. These teams will stop vehicles, verify documents, and prevent the movement of unaccounted cash. He asked residents to cooperate and carry the necessary papers when travelling with large sums.
The District Election Officer also formed a District Complaint Committee and a Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) for the by-election. The MCMC will verify seized money and release it only after confirming the documents. The committee is functioning from the third floor of the GHMC head office.
Committees to ensure election and media compliance
As MCMC chairman, RV Karnan said all media approvals and election advertisements will pass through this committee. He reminded political parties and candidates to strictly follow the Election Commission’s guidelines for the Jubilee Hills Legislative Assembly by-election.
